The Africa Energy Indaba at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from March 3-5, 2026, will bring together the continent’s foremost leaders, investors, policymakers and innovators to address one of Africa’s most pressing challenges: securing affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all.
Under the theme “African Energy – Pathways to Prosperity: Choices for Capital, Community, Commerce and Climate” – the Indaba will highlight transformative solutions to drive inclusive growth and accelerate Africa’s energy transition.
A central feature of the conference will be the launch of Mission 300M aimed at addressing the reality that hundreds of millions of Africans remain without access to electricity. The programme will showcase strategies to close the energy poverty gap with focus on ensuring that healthcare, education and economic development are not held back by lack of power.
Delegates will also engage on the African Single Electricity Market and the Continental Power System Master Plan. These initiatives are designed to integrate regional power markets and create a unified continental electricity framework. Discussions will cover aggregated energy procurement models and utility reform, exploring how private-sector participation and collaborative approaches can reshape Africa’s energy landscape.
Global context will also take centre stage. Sessions will examine the impact of international events, climate summits and shifting policy frameworks on Africa’s decarbonisation agenda while exploring how the continent can simultaneously build climate resilience and energy security.
Breakout sessions will delve into frontier opportunities such as hydrogen, natural gas, renewable energy, critical minerals and mobility innovation as well as the role of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in transforming the energy sector. The programme will also address financing mechanisms, human capital development and the urgent need for grid investment and decentralised energy systems to boost interconnectedness and reliability.
By gathering decision-makers across capital, community, commerce and climate, the Africa Energy Indaba 2026 will provide a platform to catalyse partnerships, showcase bankable projects and chart pathways for Africa to harness its vast energy potential. With energy demand rising and investment opportunities expanding, the Indaba aims to be a defining moment in shaping a prosperous and sustainable energy future for the continent.
