A 5,6 MWp solar project developed by Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS) for Energy Exchange of Southern Africa (EXSA) is nearing commissioning in the Western Cape with Eskom grid connection approved and RETEC testing in progress, EXSA says.
The SlimSun Too Solar independent power producer (IPP) spans 10 hectares and is expected to generate about 12 GWh of electricity annually. Power will be supplied through EXSA under a 10-year power purchase agreement. SPS is acting as IPP and engineering, procurement and construction contractor while Investec has provided R87 million in project financing.
A second phase will expand capacity to 10 MW with construction set to begin following financial close.
