Open Access Energy, a South African energy management company, has partnered with PEC Utility Management to establish a national metering service aimed at improving billing accuracy for wheeling clients across South Africa.
“The collaboration ensures a reliable national metering footprint, supporting accurate billing for wheeling clients across South Africa. PEC’s established expertise and coverage will enable Open Access Energy to expand its reach, ensuring a consistent, accurate and dependable metering service nationwide,” Open Access Energy says in a statement.
By integrating PEC’s metering technologies into its operations, Open Access Energy aims to enhance its wheeling platform, which supports renewable energy integration across Eskom and various municipalities. The platform’s features include tariff verification and real-time data sharing, which streamline billing processes for wheeling customers while facilitating the transition to cleaner energy sources.
As part of the initiative, PEC has also partnered with renewable energy provider EverSolar. This partnership allows PEC clients to share their metering data via Open Access Energy’s Energypro platform. It provides detailed energy consumption insights, enabling EverSolar to propose renewable energy solutions tailored to clients’ usage patterns, supporting cost efficiency and sustainable energy adoption.
“By integrating these capabilities, Open Access Energy can deliver consistent metering services nationwide, addressing the complexities of wheeling and energy distribution in the South African context,” the company says.
