Harnessing moving water: Advances in hydrokinetic turbines

There are several small hydro solutions broadly segmented into two major types: gravity or impounded systems and hydrokinetic turbines (HKT). In gravity systems, water stored behind a dam wall creates hydraulic pressure, which forces water through nozzles onto the turbine wheel.
