SA’s skills crisis in the energy transition: The roles few can fill

Global energy employment has expanded rapidly. The 2025 International Energy Agency (IEA) report notes that applied technical roles now account for more than half of the world’s energy workforce. However, the IEA also warns that countries are facing increasing difficulty in recruiting technical staff.
