The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has extended the deadline for nominations to serve on the Electricity Market Advisory Forum (EMAF) from July 25 to July 31 following multiple requests for additional time.
NERSA initially called for nominations on July 2 after approving the establishment of the forum in April. Constituted under Section 5 of the Electricity Regulation Act of 2006 (as amended), the EMAF will advise the regulator on matters related to the development of a competitive electricity market.
The forum is expected to play a key role in supporting NERSA’s new regulatory responsibilities, including the finalisation of the Market Code and Market Rules that will govern the operation of the South African Wholesale Electricity Market.
