Mercedes-Benz South Africa has completed a rooftop solar installation with a total installed capacity of 14,57 MWp at its manufacturing facility in East London. Supplier, Jinko Solar, describes the installation as the largest rooftop solar project in South Africa.
The project was delivered by Bright Black Energy using more than 21 000 Jinko Solar N-Type modules (JKM575N-72HL4-V). Module supply was facilitated through Menlo Electric South Africa.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa invested over R100 million in the system. “The project demonstrates collaboration between local implementation partners and global technology suppliers, and highlights the use of high-efficiency module technology in the commercial and industrial sector,” Milicent Chidamba, Sales Deputy Director: SADC Region at Jinko Solar, says.
