The idea of harvesting energy from ocean tides, waves and currents, has been around for almost a century, and numerous schemes have been concocted in the quest to realise this dream. Few systems, however, have been successful and many seemingly good ideas have succumbed to the ravages of the sea.
Research into the field of ocean power is ongoing, however, and promises to make ocean power an economic and feasible concept.
