Multinational consumer goods company Kimberly-Clark has announced plans to procure renewable electricity for its South African operations through a wheeling arrangement.
The company issued a request for proposals (RFP) in August 2025 to source wheeled renewable energy for its Epping (Cape Town) and Enstra (Gauteng) plants. The procurement process will run via the Independent Energy Pool (IEP) platform.
Kimberly-Clark says this initiative is part of its global 2030 sustainability strategy, targeting emissions reduction and a smaller environmental footprint across its operations. By doing so, the company joins the ranks of other large corporate offtakers such as Implats, Balwin and Nando’s, which have turned to wheeling arrangements to secure renewable power for their operations.
The IEP will host an information session to guide potential bidders through the RFP process.
