Discovery Green has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Southern Sun to supply 90% of the hospitality group’s energy requirements from renewable energy wheeled via the national grid.
The agreement covers the Arabella Hotel, Golf and Spa as well as the Drakensberg Sun, Garden Court Morningside, Southern Sun Katherine Street, Southern Sun Sandton, Champagne Sports Resort and Sabi River Sun Resort.
The energy will be supplied from Discovery Green’s portfolio of wind and solar generation assets, including the second phase of the Overberg wind farm developed in partnership with Red Rocket.
Southern Sun joins a growing number of corporate customers turning to private PPAs for supply security and sustainability alignment. Discovery Green says the agreement contributes to its broader commitment to supply 200 000 MWh of renewable energy annually to clients nationwide.
