NERSA has decided to increase electricity tariffs by 18,65% this year, and 12,74% next year - resulting in an effective 33% over the next two years.

Responding to this announcement, Dr Rethabile Melamu, Chief Executive Officer at the South African Solar PV Association (SAPVIA), said, "Those that can afford solar systems need to seriously explore alternatives for a more stable and secure electricity supply. We continue to urge for the incentivisation of domestic systems to contribute to demand side management efforts."
