Mulilo has reached financial close on a 380 MW solar photovoltaic project near Beaufort West in the Western Cape, marking the start of construction on one of the larger utility-scale solar developments in the country.
The project will have export capacity of 250 MW and is expected to connect to the Droërivier transmission substation, adding new generation capacity to the grid.
Electricity from the plant will be supplied to commercial and industrial customers under a power purchase agreement structure facilitated through NOA Group.
Mulilo says the project is expected to generate approximately 818 GWh of electricity annually once operational. The company indicates that the project is one of several developments advancing through its portfolio with multiple projects reaching financial close during 2026 as it scales deployment.
