Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Trade Forward Southern Africa (TFSA) Programme partnership between DAI and Africa House will be hosting a hybrid conference and B2B event on 19 and 20 July 2022, to highlight South African capabilities in the renewable energy manufacturing, assembly, and operations and maintenance support, and the logistics of getting goods into markets. The event will link the South African value chain to OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), suppliers and institutions and regional project developers from the rest of Africa.

In the same platform, TFSA is also partnering with the South Africa Electrotechnical Export Council (SAEEC) to exhibit digital profiles of emerging exporters from the SME sector to showcase the expansive and inclusive capabilities of the renewable energy industry in South Africa.
The emerging green technology and renewable energy industry in South Africa is one of the key priority sectors TFSA has identified to support the objective to increase export trade. The aim of the Programme is to grow markets and streamline local production to increase the competitiveness of local manufacturers to supply goods and services into renewable energy projects in the rest of Africa where the opportunity is estimated at US$90 billion and growing. In close partnership with Atlantis SEZ, Green Cape, SAEEC, other key players in the sector, TFSA has:
- Developed a database of over 1000 wind, solar and green projects, and opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa to ease local manufacturers’ access to the highest potential markets.
- Produced an easy-to-follow guideline for manufacturers and investors on compliance requirements for duty exemptions on imported raw materials necessary to ensure competitive local production.
- Strengthened the profiling of 50 SMEs though use of digital content to market their goods and services online and improve their competitiveness in the renewable energy space.
The line-up of events has been designed to share with attendees the outputs from these initiatives.
With a growing focus on renewable energy in Africa, the events are expected to inform the regional project developers about the capabilities of South African manufacturers of renewable energy machinery and components, to supply their needs. On the other hand, South African manufacturers and suppliers will get insights on how to capitalise on the existing infrastructure to pursue the opportunities that exist beyond the borders and grow the local sector.
Do not miss this opportunity to register and hear more on this vital topic for national, regional, and continental growth and development.
