Power utilities face increasing challenges associated with rapid transformation of power generation and consumption. Distributed Energy Resources (DER), including renewables, cause stresses on grid assets. Climate change and associated extreme weather events, as well as an ageing grid infrastructure, add to growing concerns, while digitalisation with ‘smart grids’ contributes to solutions for improved reliability.
