Thermaspray is pleased to announce the appointment of Pieter Venter as the company’s Responsible Welding Coordinator, as required by ISO 3834, effective from 26 April 2021. Pieter is immensely qualified for the position with a BEng (Metallurgy) and BEng Hons (Metallurgy) from the University of Pretoria, a Master of Engineering (Materials and Welding Engineering) from the University of the Witwatersrand, and an International Welding Engineer Diploma from the International Institute of Welding.
Venter brings a wealth of knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and industry experience to the position. He says he is excited about “joining the leader in high technology coatings and surface engineering solutions and working with the dynamic and specialist Thermaspray team to add the best possible value for its customers”.
Jordaan Lourens, the company’s Laser Cladding Manager, is “delighted to have Pieter on board, his expertise, extensive experience and strong metallurgy background will undoubtedly form a strong foundation for our laser cladding department to continue to grow.”

Thermaspray is the only laser cladding service provider in South Africa with an ISO 3834-2 certification. Venter’s appointment improves the company’s position further in terms of quality, expertise, and adherence to the standards that customers expect from a laser cladding service provider.
