The highly anticipated Integrated Resource Plan IRP 2023 is still lacking in its commitment to eradicate load shedding in South Africa - and it’s not urgent enough, says Paul Vermeulen, Gauteng Chair of AMEU (Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities). Vermeulen presented his reflections of the draft plan at the AMEU Highveld / SARPA Gauteng Branch Meeting held on 15 February. The annual and total gigawatt hours of load shedding are getting worse, Vermeulen said.
