Following the renovation of Father’s Home Care Ministries in 2021, the orphanage has initiated two significant upgrades, enabling it to accommodate an additional 16 children and offer enhanced facilities. Last year the home introduced a teenage zone, and as of April 2022, begun a project to build a library with the collaboration of Bosch Rexroth Ghana, and the Primavera Foundation which funded this project with €70 000.
The addition of a teenage zone
After the renovation in two sections of the home, the orphanage now accommodates 67 children between the ages of 10 months and 20 years. The new teenage zone consists of a section for boys and for girls respectively, each housing eight children. The children are cared for by five ladies who consider themselves as the children’s parents. Notably, the home additionally supports 45 children across Ghana through the supply of education and food parcels.
“We are proud to have facilitated in the growth of the Home to accommodate 16 additional children,” comments Rosemond Yamoah, Father’s Home Care Ministries.
A new library to enrich the children’s lives
The home’s 96 m2 library is almost complete and will be available to the children in the home as well as those residing in the surrounding community, thanks to the help of Primavera Foundation. The library is being built between the two houses on the Father’s Care Home Ministries property and will be operated by an employed librarian. In the coming year, computers will be purchased for the library, to further enable and assist children with their schoolwork and knowledge.
In preparation of the anticipated opening of the library in January 2023, the Bosch Rexroth South Africa Group of Companies is encouraging employees to implement its’ motto, Driving Africa Forward, by participating in an initiative to donate books that will fill the library.
“There are currently no libraries in proximity of the Home. We believe the new library will offer an encouraging learning space that will greatly help the children in the Home and those in the community. In addition, we look forward to the results of our initiative to supply the library with books. We believe the books and learning space will broaden the children’s knowledge, assist them with their schoolwork, and boost existing university entrance rates of the children residing in the home we have adopted,” concludes Yamoah.
