Bühler Southern Africa hosted its fourth annual Student Career Expo on August 8, welcoming learners from The Kings School Discovery, Hoërskool Florida, Hoërskool Roodepoort and Bakery Foods School. Grade 9, 11 and 12 learners attended the event, which aimed to introduce them to career opportunities within Bühler and across the industries it serves.
Managing Director Marco Sutter outlined Bühler’s history, global footprint and its role in food processing and advanced manufacturing. He encouraged learners to consider careers in technical and engineering fields, which remain critical for South Africa’s skills pipeline.
Interactive booths run by Bühler’s engineering, technology, automation, customer service and value stream teams offered live demonstrations and insights into different functions. Learners also toured Bühler’s warehouse, observing equipment and large-scale manufacturing processes in action.
Talks by finance, sales, marketing, human resources and engineering departments provided learners with practical information on academic requirements and career pathways.
“The Student Career Expo is more than just a showcase of our work; it is an opportunity to ignite curiosity and ambition in young minds,” said Rachael Madziwanyika, Head of Human Resources at Bühler Southern Africa. “By letting learners engage with our people, technology and purpose, we aim to inspire a passion for industry that lasts a lifetime.”
