The Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities (AMEU) of Southern Africa opens its 68th annual convention this morning at the Duban International Convention Centre (ICC).
This is the Association's first in-person convention since 2019, because of the restrictions concerning social gatherings imposed by the government during the Covid-19 pandemic. There was no convention in 2020, and last year's convention was a virtual one.
This year's three-day event will open with a welcome from the AMEU President, Jayshree Pershad; a keynote address by the minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma; and presentation by the CEO of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA), Adv. Nomalanga Sithole.
Thereafter, the three-day event's programme lists 21 indepth technical presentations, as well as panel discussions, to ensure that delegates are well informed of current developments in the international electricity industry.
Many companies will be exhibiting their latest product and service offerings during the event, too.
We look forward to an exciting and informative convention.
