Instrotech recently supplied its DPM4003 and DPM3001M (low- and high-alarm relay output) temperature indicators to Levivi22 Engineering and Projects, the company contracted by Tshwane Municipality for the maintenance of Bronkhorstspruit Sewage Works wastewater pumps.
Since these pumps are unmonitored in operation, an automated solution was required to keep the system running optimally.
These devices monitor the operating temperature of each pump, switching it off should the temperature exceed 120°C, and back on again once it cools to 60°C. The devices are fitted with two normally-open/normally-closed (NO/NC) mechanical relay switches which makes this possible.
Instrotech’s Tinus Ludik says that by the end of July 2020, the DPM4003 temperature controller, which had been installed onto one of the pumps, tripped automatically before the pump could overheat, directly resulting in a saving of approximately R600 000.
