In August 2010, the Croatian company Koncar Instrument Transformers obtained an order for the 45 x 800 kV CTs ; 13 x 800 kV CVTs and 13 x 420 kV CTs for the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation (UPPTCL). This order followed good performance of the 245 kV and 420 kV instrument transformers Koncar supplied in 1970s and 1980s. In March 2011, all the relevant tests were completed in the presence of the clients and engineers at Koncar’s own test facility ( Koncar Electrical Engineering Institute). A specific challenge was the packing. CTs that are over 8 m long were specially crated in the way that four units fitted in one 40 ft container. Crating had to take into consideration conditions of the country roads to the site. Not a single unit was damaged in the transport. Deliveries started in April 2011, and were completed in September 2011. Local staff installed and commissioned the units without Koncar staff needing to be there for these activities.
